Hello and Welcome

Our website charts the history of the society as well as giving the current members the information they need to keep the Society moving forward and developing further. The Society has now played 84 different golf courses in the British Isles and we are scheduled to reach the 100th by our 20th year.

We have well established Matchplay competitions, a full itinerary of outings and the highlight of the year, CAPTAIN’S WEEKEND. You can read about and see the places we have travelled to for our Captain’s Weekends within the website.

David Moreland took over the reigns as Captain of the society from

Peter Lockard after another very successful year, culminating in the

Captain’s Weekend at Castleknock Golf Club, Dublin in July 2008.

His first duty as Captain was to announce the appointment of

Robin Mitchell as his Vice Captain for the coming year.

David said:

“I am very honoured to have been asked to become Captain of

McBride’s Golf Society for this year. The society is rapidly

approaching its twentieth year and continues to go from strength

to strength. This year the Society has some new courses added to the itinerary as well as returning to the old favourites and we are well on our way to achieving our goal of playing 100 different courses in 20 years. I would like to wish everyone the very best of luck for the coming year, as I know some of us will definitely need it!” “Plans are already in place for my Captain’s Weekend in Edinburgh but there is a lot of golf to be played and more importantly a lot of craic to be had before that!”.
