The Secretary's Thoughts
2. The Society will be running another 'Last Man Standing' competition starting on Saturday 15 January 2011. For those who don't know, basically you pay a one-off £5 and then pick a Premier League team to win each week. If it doesn't win your eliminated from the competition and the last man undefeated wins the cash! You can only pick a certain team once i.e once you pick Man Utd you can't pick them again! I have attached general rules and a list of the first 3 weeks of fixtures and I would ask you to e-mail back your selection(s) each week (or write it on the sheet in the bar) if you want to enter (and lets hope you all do). If any of your family, friends or work colleagues would like to enter, great the more the merrier!!
I will collect the £5 before or at the Kirkistown outing on Sunday 9 January.
Any questions please call me on 07768648821.

I am starting on the basis of holding the price at £250 for the weekend.
The price really rules out a flight with everything else included.
So travelling by coach in Ireland is our best bet for next year in my view.
An option if have been researching with Ronnie is Athlone.
It is motorway the whole way to Athlone now and a coach would do it in about 2hrs 30mins to 3hrs.
The proposal is to depart from the Square at 7am on Saturday 30 July and travel to Esker Hills Golf Club (link attached) which would take 2hrs 15mins, to tee of at 10am.

Round completed for 3.30pm, few drinks and on into Athlone which is another 30mins.
Book into the Prince of Wales Hotel in the centre of Athlone (link attached). (Hotel seems to be the centre of nightlife in Athlone – Bars and a nightclub)

Round of Golf at Glasson Golf Club (15mins out of Athlone) followed by Captain’s Dinner
www.glassongolfhotel.ie
Back to Athlone on Sunday evening and stay until Monday 1 August (which is a Bank Holiday in ROI)
This would cost us £250 (sterling) which includes:
Two nights B&B and 1 evening dinner on the Saturday night.
One round of golf at Esker Hills Golf Club on Saturday 30 July (Fourball Betterball Competition)
One round of golf at Glasson Golf Club on Sunday 31 July (Captain’s Day)
