Hello and Welcome
Our website charts the history of the society as well as giving the current members the information they need to keep the Society moving forward and developing further. The Society has now played 88 different golf courses in the British Isles and we are scheduled to reach the 100th by our 20th year.
We have well established Matchplay competitions, a full itinerary of outings and the highlight of the year, CAPTAIN’S WEEKEND. You can read about and see the places we have travelled to for our Captain’s Weekends within the website.

Captain 2009 / 2010
“It is a great honour to be asked to take on the role of Captain in McBrides Golf Society for 2009-2010. I have enjoyed every minute since I joined the society some years ago, so this year is going to be very special for me and I hope another great year for all of the members.
Some new courses have again been added to the society’s itinerary for the new year which will bring the total number of different courses played to 92. We will also be making returns to other favourites which are tried and tested! Good luck to everyone in the various competitions between now and next July.
At the time of writing this, I am still recovering from an exceptional Captain’s Weekend in Edinburgh. So I am thinking carefully about the venue for the weekend next year and I will let you know very soon what we come up with.

Robin Mitchell has become the 18th Captain of McBrides Golf Society.
Robin's first duty as Captain was to announce the appointment of Ronnie Geddis as his Vice Captain for the coming year.
Outgoing Captain David Moreland presented Robin with his green sweater at Kings Acre GC during Captain’s Weekend in Edinburgh at the end of July 2009.
